Since I’ve had an intense amount of brain fog and memory issues lately, simple stockinette projects have been my go to. I’ve also been more interested in bottom up because they’re easy to get started. But I did make a few cute and easy tops, including the Me Oh My tee!
When life gets hard, pick a hard project. But seriously, it wasn’t as challenging as I expected and it was so satisfying to complete a beautiful piece that required a new-to-me construction method and color technique.
Learn to knit a stockinette gauge swatch for any project. A gauge swatch allows you to ensure your finished project will have the same measurements as the pattern project. They are also a great way to practice knitting, both for beginners and experienced knitters.
Understand the main yarn characteristics so that you can pick the perfect project from your stash and be more discerning when selecting new yarn.
Shawls can be knit with thick yarn for cozy winter warmth or thin, airy yarn for summer accessorizing. Even though shawls come in a variety of sizes and shapes, they are all knit flat. Shawls are also great to learn new techniques such as colorwork or lacework.
The Briar and Bramble is a surprisingly quick and relaxing project. The pattern isn’t the most prescriptive, but the design is really well thought out.
